Lachowitzer gets cross county award

Fargo Davies junior Tarin Lachowitzer was named the Gatorade North Dakota Girls’ Cross Country Runner of the Year. The award is given not only to outstanding athletes, but also those who excel in the classroom and show exemplary character during competition. She is now a finalist for the national Gatorade Girls’ Cross Country Runner of the Year, which will be announced later in January.

The award is given not only to outstanding athletes, but also those who excel in the classroom and show exemplary character during competition.

She is now a finalist for the national Gatorade Girls’ Cross Country Runner of the Year, which will be announced later in January.

Lachowitzer won her second straight Class A state championship with a time of 14:43.3o, which helped lead the Eagles to their first team state title at Hillcrest Golf Course in Jamestown.

She went on to finish 15th at the Nike Cross Nationals Heartland Regional championships in 18:38.04.

The four-time first-team all-state selection also captured eighth place at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota.

She also carries a 3.95 GPA in the classroom and volunteered locally as part of the Fill the Dome youth-led drive and as a fundraiser for area homeless as part of her church’s youth group.
