About 30 firefighters of the Jamestown Fire Department responded to a report of smoke inundating the Taco John’s building at 718 10th St. S.E. in Jamestown at 1:47 p.m. Friday. Units were on the scene for about 1 hour, according to Jerry Kainz, deputy fire chief.
At the time of the incident the building was occupied by two employees and one customer, according to Lexie Ruckdschel, supervisor at Taco John’s. She said the staff and customer evacuated the building before the arrival of the fire department.
“We checked the building thoroughly and could not positively identify where the smoke was coming from,” Kainz said. “We stayed and made sure the smoke didn’t reappear when the utilities were turned on before turning it back to the owners.”
Kainz said the cause of the incident would remain undetermined.
