Man sentenced for drug conspiracy

FARGO (AP) — A Fargo man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for dealing drugs.

Joey Johnson pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess a controlled substance with the intent of distributing it. Authorities said he sold methamphetamine and marijuana in North Dakota and elsewhere in a seven-month stretch of 2009.

In exchange for the plea, the government dropped charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a firearm during a drug-trafficking crime.

Johnson had faced a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
