JRCC announces promotions
James River Correctional Center has announced the following promotions: Connie Hackman-Rivinius was promoted from training officer to chief of security effective Dec. 15. Hackman-Rivinius started working with the Department of Corrections as a correctional officer in May 1995 at the North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck. She was promoted to the position of caseworker in July 1997. In May 1998, Hackman-Rivinius was promoted to lieutenant and moved to Jamestown when the James River Correctional Center opened. She assumed the duties of correctional case manager in June 2001, when the fifth and sixth floor housing units were opened.

In December 2002, Hackman-Rivinius started new duties as a parole/probation officer with the Field Services Division of the Department of Corrections. In January 2005, she was promoted to the position of training officer for the JRCC.
Stewart Baumgartner has transferred from the position of unit manager to training officer effective Jan. 1. Stewart started with the James River Correctional Center as a correctional case manager in May 1998. In April 2001, he was promoted to the position of unit manager.
Baumgartner was the chairperson for the North Dakota Peace Officers Convention that was held in Jamestown in August 2004. He demonstrated leadership and management skills in providing the conference, his supervisors said.
Baumgartner has received numerous letters of appreciation and commendation during his employment with the JRCC.
