Snowmobilers warned not to harass wildlife

North Dakota snowmobilers are reminded to stay away from wildlife, according to a North Dakota Game and Fish Department press release.

North Dakota snowmobilers are reminded to stay away from wildlife, according to a North Dakota Game and Fish Department press release.

“Snowmobiles cannot be used to flush, chase or pursue wildlife,” the press release said. “Running snowmobiles near, through or around winter habitat such as thickets, cattails and wooded areas may inadvertently scare winter wildlife, causing them additional stress and injury.”

The department noted snowmobiles can be used off established trails during fox or coyote hunting but can not be used to pursue the animal.

Anyone witnessing the harassment of wildlife by snowmobiles is asked to call the Report All Poachers hotline at 800-472-2121.
