Nenow named interim road superintendent after Zimmerman resigns

The Stutsman County Commission named Mickey Nenow as interim county road superintendent at its regular meeting Tuesday. The action follows the resignation of Mike Zimmerman from the post Jan. 14. His resignation was effective immediately.

“I hope I’m in good graces with everyone here,” Zimmerman said addressing the board. “I hope you realize that there are more complaints coming in. Working with the public is not fun. Everyone wants everything right now.”

The action follows a discussion during the December commission meeting in which Zimmerman’s job performance was criticized by County Commissioner David Schwartz.

“We’ve had a few problems but he resigned for personal reasons,” Schwartz said after the Tuesday meeting. “I applaud his decision, he left in good standing.”

Zimmerman began working for Stutsman County in May 1984, as a blade operator and was promoted to road superintendent in February 2002.

The commission will make a decision regarding a permanent road superintendent at a future meeting.
