WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Precautionary testing is planned for about 75 students in West Fargo while officials await final results on whether another student is infected with active tuberculosis.
Theresa Orecchia with Fargo Cass Public Health told the Forum that tuberculin skin testing will start Wednesday on students at Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center who may have been in close contact with the ill student.
Orecchia said there's still no confirmation that a student with “presumptive” tuberculosis as diagnosed by a private medical provider is infected with active TB.
Tuberculosis typically affects the lungs and can be spread through the air.
