Woman sentenced on theft charge
U.S. Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced Jane M. Martin, 60, of Bismarck, was sentenced today before U.S. District Court Judge Daniel L. Hovland on a charge of theft from an Indian tribal organization.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced Jane M. Martin, 60, of Bismarck, was sentenced today before U.S. District Court Judge Daniel L. Hovland on a charge of theft from an Indian tribal organization. Martin pleaded guilty to the charge on Nov. 1, 2010.
Hovland sentenced Martin to two years of probation. Martin was ordered to
pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund and $7500 in restitution.
Martin was employed as a development specialist with the Turtle Mountain
Housing Authority in Belcourt, North Dakota. Between June 2005 and August 2005, she made fraudulent disbursements of down payment assistance funds in excess of $1,000, authorities said.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandi Sasse Russell prosecuted the case.
