FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Milk production in North Dakota during October, November and December totaled 93 million pounds, unchanged from the fourth quarter in 2009.
The federal Agriculture Department says the average number of milk cows in North Dakota during last year's fourth quarter stood at 20,000, down 1,000 from the previous three months.
Milk produced per cow was 4,650 pounds, down from 4,670 pounds the previous quarter but up from 4,420 pounds during the last three months of 2009.
Nationwide, milk production during last year's fourth quarter totaled 47.5 billion pounds, up 2.8 percent over the year.
