One dead in Richland County crash

An 18-year-old man died this morning in a one-vehicle crash, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

An 18-year-old man died this morning in a one-vehicle crash, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at 9:05 a.m. on Highway 13 at the intersection of Interstate 29, in Richland County.

The driver was driving a 2001 Ford F-250 on the west side of the I-29 overpass. He lost control and began to spin on the roadway. The truck struck the median guardrail, vaulted over it and rolled into the median. The truck came to a rest on its side in the median of the eastbound and westbound Highway 13 overpass bridges.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrols aid.

Road conditions were patches of ice and there was blowing snow. The truck was totaled.

The crash remains under investigation.
