Red Cross offers babysitting class

The American Red Cross Buffalo Valley Chapter will be offering babysitter training for youth ages 11-15 on Feb. 21 in Jamestown. The cost is $40. Students will need to bring a sack lunch. Class size is limited so early sign-up is encouraged by calling 252-3550.

The American Red Cross Buffalo Valley Chapter will be offering babysitter training for youth ages 11-15 on Feb. 21 in Jamestown. The cost is $40. Students will need to bring a sack lunch. Class size is limited so early sign-up is encouraged by calling 252-3550.

Babysitter training is designed to be fun and fast-paced with hands-on activities, video, role-plays and discussion. Students learn basic child-care skills such as diapering, feeding and dressing; handle bedtime and discipline issues; care for common injuries and emergencies such as choking, burns, cuts and bee stings; identify safety hazards and prevent injuries; how to choose safe, age-appropriate games and toys; and communicate effectively with parents.
