Kern, Smyth

Carrie Kern, St. Paul, Minn., and Conor Smyth, Red Wing, Minn., announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

Parents of the couple are John and Lynda Kern, Red Wing, and Mike and Marilyn Smyth, Jamestown.

Carrie’s grandmother is LaVoy Shaffer, Faribault, Minn.

Conor’s grandmother is Dorothy Smyth, Winsted, Minn.

Carrie is a 2001 graduate of Red Wing High School, Red Wing, a 2005 graduate of St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., and a 2010 graduate of Des Moines University, Des Moines, Iowa, with a Doctor of Osteopathy in chemistry and family medicine. She is a doctor at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Paul.

Conor is a 2001 graduate of Jamestown High School, Jamestown, and a 2005 graduate of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn., with a bachelor’s degree in business. He is a certified financial planner with Edward Jones Investments.

An Oct. 15 wedding is planned at Church of St. Joseph, Red Wing, with a dance and reception to follow in Red Wing.
