N.D. wild turkey licenses increase

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota wildlife officials are making 6,720 wild turkey licenses available for the spring hunting season, an increase of 80 from last year. The state Game and Fish Department said the increase is a result of better turkey production in spring 2010, mostly in the hunting units bordering the Missouri River.

The state Game and Fish Department said the increase is a result of better turkey production in spring 2010, mostly in the hunting units bordering the Missouri River.

One hunting unit encompassing most of Hettinger and Adams counties will remain closed this year because of a low number of birds.

Spring turkey licenses are available only to North Dakota residents. The deadline to apply is midnight on Feb. 16.

The spring turkey season opens April 9 and continues through May 15.
