Music/Drama/ Comedy

“An Evening With Tim Bratton” is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Arts Center. Tickets at the door are $8 for adults and $3 for students.

“The Purple Orchid List,” a romantic comedy by local author Jennifer Waters, has three dinner theater performances starting at 6 p.m. with show time at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-12, at the Arts Center. A Valentine’s Day dessert and wine theater is at 6:30 p.m. followed by the performance at 7 p.m. Feb. 14. Tickets for the dinner theater are $20 for Arts Center members and students and $25 for others. Tickets for the dessert theater are $10 for Arts Center members and students and $15 for others. Peggy Hammerling, Valley City State University flute instructor, performs in recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, in Froemke Auditorium on the VCSU campus in Valley City. Admission is $5.

“The Nerd,” a comedy presented by Jamestown College, is 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 10-12, at the Reiland Fine Arts Center’s DeNault Auditorium. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased by calling the box office at 252-3467 ext. 2435, e-mailing tickets@jc.edu.

Chuck Suchy performs in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in the Anne Carlsen Center Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and can be ordered by calling Anne Carlsen Center at 800-568-5175 or the Arts Center at 251-2496.

Special Events

A special tour of the Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site near Cooperstown, N.D., is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at Oscar-Zero Missile Alert Facility. Cost: $35 including lunch at the Griggs County Museum in Cooperstown. Registration for a tour is limited to 10 people and must be made by Feb. 24. Around Town

Wood carving, with a local wood carving group, is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays in the Arts Center’s Hansen Studio. There is no charge. Call Andy Kudrna at 320-5075 with questions.

The outdoor skating rinks at Meidinger, McElroy, Nickeus and Leapaldt parks are open from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Museums/ Libraries/etc.

National Buffalo Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sundays by appointment. Admission: $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and AAA members, $10 for a family and $1 for children ages 6 to 18.

Alfred Dickey Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. To access the Story Line, call 252-7464.

Storytime is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Alfred Dickey Library. The theme is “Food.”

Stutsman County Library hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The library is located at 910 Fifth St. S.E.

The Barnes County Historical Museum, 315 Central Ave. N., Valley City, is open year round from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is a freewill donation.

The Drawings and Paintings of Zhimin Guan are on display at the Arts Center gallery through Feb. 12. There is no admission charge.

“Come As You Are: Dabble in Paint,” with instructor Tammy Jones, is from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 8, 15, 22 and March 1 at the Arts Center. Some experience required or previous Dabble class. Emma Hust’s quilt art is on display at Unison Bank for the month of February. Unison features a new artist in its lobby each month.
