51 communities honored by N.D. Forest Service

Fifty-one North Dakota communities and one utility are being recognized by the North Dakota Forest Service.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Fifty-one North Dakota communities and one utility are being recognized by the North Dakota Forest Service.

Officials scheduled a Thursday ceremony at the state Capitol in Bismarck to hand out Tree City USA certificates and a Tree Line USA award to Montana-Dakota Utilities.

The honors recognize communities and companies that improve forestry programs and show leadership in the care of trees.

The program is administered by the state Forest Service and sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation, the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
