AG: Township groups met illegally

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says the McKenzie Township Board of Supervisors and the township Zoning Commission held an illegal meeting last fall.

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says the McKenzie Township Board of Supervisors and the township Zoning Commission held an illegal meeting last fall.

Stenehjem said a quorum of each group was present Aug. 3 when an inspection was done of streets, culverts and property in the unincorporated town of McKenzie.

The attorney general said those who took part did not provide public notice because they did not think the inspection qualified as a meeting. Stenehjem said it did, because it directly related to the public business of each governing body.

He’s directed the board and commission to compile meeting minutes.
