Potato stocks up in North Dakota

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Potato stocks in North Dakota are up 14 percent from a year ago.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Potato stocks in North Dakota are up 14 percent from a year ago.

The Agriculture Department says growers, dealers and processors in the state held 10.3 million hundredweight of potatoes in storage on Feb. 1.

Current stocks represent 47 percent of production, the same as in 2010.

Nationally, potato stocks on Jan. 1 stood at 176 million hundredweight, down 14 percent over the year.
