I-29 opens from Sioux Falls to Brookings but still closed from Brookings to N.D. border
The South Dakota Department of Transportation has opened I-29 from Sioux Falls to Brookings.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation has opened Interstate 29 from Sioux Falls to Brookings. Crews are working, but due to high winds and continued snowfall, I-29 remains closed from Brookings to the North Dakota border until further notice.
South Dakota Officials would like to remind motorists there are limited accommodations at Brookings and encourage northbound I-29 travelers to postpone travel plans until the entire stretch of Interstate is open.
Winter driving conditions still exist, including some snow packed and slippery areas and possible blowing and drifting snow, especially in northeastern and east central South Dakota where many highways still have a no-travel advisory posted.
