BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota’s state-owned flour mill reported a $3.5 million profit during October, November and December of last year.
Mill manager Vance Taylor said the earnings are a record for the three-month period.
Taylor said the mill has made almost $6.3 million in the first six months of its budget year, and that is also a record.
Taylor presented the report Tuesday to the North Dakota Industrial Commission.
He said flour shipments have risen as the economy improves and people spend more on eating out. The mill supplies the restaurant business.
Taylor said the mill’s future prospects for profit are good, even though wheat prices have been rising.
