DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota State University Extension Service study says more than 163,000 acres in farm land has been lost to flooding at Devils Lake and Stump Lake since 1993.

Ramsey County extension agent Bill Hodous told KZZY radio that the economic impact of that lost farm land production is pegged at more than $194 million in 2011.

Hodous said the study compared average yields for the most popular crops in Ramsey and Benson Counties for a five-year period that ended in 2009. He said the study estimated the revenue that would have been gained if the lost acres had been planted.
