BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota officials are urging pet owners in flood-prone areas to make provisions for their animals in case of evacuation.

Officials say planning and preparation are essential for pet owners who might be forced to leave their homes.

Officials say pet evacuation kits should include animal carriers, food, water, blankets and copies of veterinary records.
