At the peak of their season, the Jamestown speech teams earned a third-place finish at the Capital Lion’s Meet at St. Mary’s High School on Feb. 26. Here are the results.
New state qualifier this week is Morgan Baumgartner, who won Poetry Interpretation. Megan Kapp finished in Poetry, as well, with third place. Baumgartner also finished as a Superior Speaker in Impromptu Speaking. Jana Lynch finished seventh in Impromptu as well, rounding out that event. Humorous Duo continues to be a strong event for the team, and Jace Erickson and Laura Kraft finished second, while the brother/sister team of Hunter and Brittney Carpenter earned Top Novice awards.
In Speech to Inform, Alyssa Mangin placed eighth and Kraft placed third. In another original speaking event, Brittany McIntyre placed sixth with her Speech to Entertain. Cassie Reidburn placed seventh in Extemporaneous Speaking and Libby Kruse earned eighth-place honors in Extemporaneous Programmed Reading. Joe Jensen placed sixth in Radio Broadcasting and Matt Graves placed in Humorous Interpretation again this week, finishing fourth. Jasmine Glasgow earned the Top Novice award for Serious Interpretation.
The team will travel to Harvey High School for a meet on Saturday and March 14 to Bismarck High School.
