Former North Dakotans still in Iditarod

The three former North Dakotans in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska are still running, though none is in the hunt for the win.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The three former North Dakotans in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska are still running, though none is in the hunt for the win.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that Beach native Kelly Maixner is in 35th place, former Thompson resident Ellen Halvorson in 53rd and Bismarck native Heather Siirtola (suhr-TOW’-luh) in 54th.

Tuesday's leader was Martin Buser, the musher from whom Siirtola bought her dogs.
