Jamestown fire causes smoke damage

A dryer fire at a residence in southwest Jamestown Sunday evening caused about $3,000 damage, said Jim Reuther, fire chief.

A dryer fire at a residence in southwest Jamestown Sunday evening caused about $3,000 damage, said Jim Reuther, fire chief.

The fire was reported at 7:15 p.m. at 509 Second Ave. S.W. Clothing in the dryer burned in the fire, Reuther said.

“The fire was contained to the dryer,” he said.

Five units and 31 firefighters were dispatched; crews were on the scene for about 45 minutes.

No injuries were reported.
