Jamestown College to offer competitive dance

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — The Jamestown College athletics program is adding competitive dance beginning with the 2011-12 school year.
Athletic Director Lawrie Paulson says competitive dance is popular at the high school level, and it makes sense for the college to offer a program with such broad appeal. He says more than 50 NAIA schools offer it.
Paulson says the team will have about two dozen dancers. They will perform at Jimmies football and basketball games and other regional events, and compete for a bid to the Universal Dance Association National Championships held in January in Orlando, Fla.
