Fargo-Moorhead sandbags to be delivered
Sandbag deployment in Fargo and neighboring Moorhead, Minn., is set for later this week.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Sandbag deployment in Fargo and neighboring Moorhead, Minn., is set for later this week.
Fargo Enterprise Director Bruce Grubb says that city expects to begin Thursday, moving 1.7 million sandbags out to neighborhoods over four days. Cold temperatures delayed those plans earlier but Grubb says overnight temperature in the upper 20s should allow for the start of distribution.
Moorhead City Manager Michael Redlinger tells The Forum that the weather should be favorable for dike building there from Friday through the weekend.
The National Weather Service in its recent outlook said there was a 50 percent chance the Red River at Fargo-Moorhead will near the record 2009 crest of almost 41 feet.
