N.D. native to take time off from Iditarod

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Bismarck native Heather Siirtola (suhr-TOH’-luh) says she'll take at least one year off from competing in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska.
The Talkeetna, Alaska, resident tells The Bismarck Tribune that she won't do another Iditarod “until I can do it right.”
Siirtola recently completed her fourth Iditarod. She finished with her best time in the four races but still was second to last.
Siirtola says she did not have a good training season, and her team was not as well-prepared as she would have liked.
