Spiritwood man faces charges in Minn.

A Spiritwood, N.D., man has been charged with two felony counts of sexual offenses in district court in Carlton County, Minnesota.

Michael G. Ostoff, 47, is accused of one count of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and one count of criminal sexual conduct in the second degree in Carlton County, Minn.

He is accused of engaging in sexual penetration with a person under the age of 13. The court alleges the abuse began when the victim was 5 or 6 and continued until the victim’s adolescence. The alleged abuse occurred between January 1997 and January 2005.

Ostoff is also accused of engaging in sexual conduct with another person under the age of 16 years and the sexual abuse involved multiple acts committed over an extended period of time.

A settlement conference is set for May 2.

A criminal sexual conduct in the first degree is punishable with up to 30 years in jail and/or a $40,000 fine. A criminal sexual conduct in the second degree is punishable with up to 20 years in jail and/or a $35,000 fine.
