Former University of Mary President Sister Thomas Welder has undergone a second kidney transplant.
BISMARCK (AP) — Former University of Mary President Sister Thomas Welder has undergone a second kidney transplant.
Annunciation Priory spokeswoman Jill Ackerman told The Bismarck Tribune that the procedure went well and Welder is recovering.
Welder retired from Mary in June 2009 after serving as president of the Bismarck school for three decades.
Welder has a chronic kidney failure condition that runs in her family. She received her first kidney transplant in 2001. Four years later she learned she would need another one because of a virus.
