The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department is looking for information related to a hit-and-run accident Thursday.

A 50-year-old rural Jamestown woman was walking her dog at the 3300 block of 83rd Ave. S.E., or between the rock on the west side of the Jamestown Reservoir and the Speedway. A vehicle, a dark maroon passenger car, possibly a Hyundai Sonata, struck her around 12 p.m. and drove away.

The woman was injured but was not transferred to Jamestown Hospital, said Deputy Liz Kapp.

Kapp said with the noon sun, it’s possible the motorist couldn’t see the woman.

With the warmer weather, more walkers and other pedestrian traffic are taking to public areas, Kapp said. She advised motorists to take caution.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 252-9000.
