Some trucker rules waived for flood

Gov. Jack Dalrymple has waived service hour and weight restrictions for commercial truck drivers who are providing direct help to the flood relief efforts in North Dakota.

BISMARCK (AP) — Gov. Jack Dalrymple has waived service hour and weight restrictions for commercial truck drivers who are providing direct help to the flood relief efforts in North Dakota.

The goal is to get needed equipment and other items to flood fighters more quickly. The waiver will remain in effect for the duration of the flood response.

The governor’s office said all road safety and vehicle compliance regulations still apply, and truckers still won’t be allowed to drive if they’re fatigued.
