Anthony Dutton will present “Mongolia: Land of the Eternal Blue Sky” at 7 p.m. April 21 at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum, Valley City, N.D.

Perceived by many Americans as remote and exotic, the land of Kublai Khan and marauding hordes, Mongolia today actually bears a striking resemblance to North Dakota and the U.S. west. Dutton presents a description of the history, culture and people of Mongolia, with an eye to what makes Mongolia unique as well as what North Dakotans would find familiar in this central Asian nation.

Dutton is an instructor in the social science department at Valley City State University and a graduate of both Valley City High School and VCSU. In January 2010 he spent nearly a month in Mongolia, visiting the family of his wife, Enkhtuya.

All lectures are given at the museum and held in conjunction with VCSU. They are free and open to the public.
