Potato stocks in North Dakota show an 18 percent increase over a year ago.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Potato stocks in North Dakota show an 18 percent increase over a year ago.
The U.S. Agriculture Department said growers, dealers and processors in the state had 5.9 million hundredweight of potatoes in storage on April 1.
Current stocks represent 27 percent of production, up 1 percent from 2010.
The national potato inventory on April 1 stood at 106 million hundredweight, down 18 percent over the previous year.
