BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — With open-water fishing under way this spring, North Dakota wildlife officials are reminding anglers about new rules intended to reduce the risk of spreading aquatic nuisance species.
Game and Fish Department Fisheries Chief Greg Power says the most recent is a requirement that anglers must drain a boat's livewell when leaving a lake or river. They can no longer leave water in their livewell if they're transporting fish.
Power says the rule went into effect last October but this spring is the first time most anglers will be affected by it.
He says anglers can use ice in a container to transport their fish.
