Choir to perform at Victory Lutheran

Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Choir of Fergus Falls, Minn., will perform Easter Sunday, at 9:45 a.m. at Victory Lutheran Church. All 40 members of the choir are senior high school students in attendance at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.

The choir will be performing choral classics from the Renaissance, through the 20th century, and in addition will perform “Salmo 150” by the Brazilian composer, Ernani Aguiar and the energetic Gospel piece “Celebrate” by Keith Hampton.

Vocalise, a small vocal ensemble from the ranks of the Concert Choir, will also perform a few selections in addition to the choir’s portion of the concert program. Vocalise’ repertoire ranges from sacred classics to vocal jazz.

The director, David Strom, is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, where he received his Master of Music Education degree in 1987. In addition, Strom has a Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Brethren Seminary, Fergus Falls. He has been a member of the faculty at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy for 20 years as the vocal music director; piano, organ and voice instructor, as well as music department chairperson.

Hillcrest Lutheran Academy is a subsidiary educational institution of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren, whose headquarters are in Fergus Falls.
