Prairie Paws Rescue is holding a fundraiser Saturday to help defray medical costs for its animals.

April 30 is also Pet Appreciation Day.

The organization’s Pet Walk is set for 1 p.m. Registration is $5 at Jamestown Tractor Supply Company and begins at noon. One of the animals in need of medical care is a stray black lab with a strained ACL, said Kaye John, Prairie Paws founder. Medical expenses for that animal alone cost about $500, she said.

Those who attend may either take the long or short walk around McElroy Park.

The group will serve refreshments after the event and give away door prizes. The group is also selling Prairie Paws merchandise.
