N.D. woman is 'satisfactory' after alleged attack

A Grafton woman who authorities say was attacked by her husband with a hammer is reported in satisfactory condition at a Grand Forks hospital.

GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) — A Grafton woman who authorities say was attacked by her husband with a hammer is reported in satisfactory condition at a Grand Forks hospital.

Police say Victoria Aasand was struck repeatedly with a hammer as she was sleeping last Friday. Her 61-year-old husband, Frank Aasand, is being held without bail at the Walsh County jail in Grafton. WDAZ-TV reports that he has not yet obtained an attorney.

Attempted murder carries a maximum punishment upon conviction of 20 years in prison.
