SKYWARN training class scheduled
The National Weather Service has scheduled a SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training Class at 7 p.m. Thursday in the lower level of the Law Enforcement Center, 205 Sixth St. S.E., Jamestown.
The National Weather Service has scheduled a SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training Class at 7 p.m. Thursday in the lower level of the Law Enforcement Center, 205 Sixth St. S.E., Jamestown.
The class will be conducted by John Paul Martin, warning coordination meteorologist, National Weather Service, Bismarck. The class, which lasts about two hours, will focus on recognizing and understanding the different types of severe summer weather such as thunderstorms, down-burst winds, flash floods, hail and tornadoes. The class is free and open to all organizations and individuals who want to become more familiar with how to identify severe summer weather.
Attending this class does not require an individual to become an official National Weather Service weather spotter. People who have previously attended this class are welcome to attend again for a refresher course.
