Reward offered in horse, cow shootings

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of whoever killed four horses and three cows near Cooperstown in eastern North Dakota.

COOPERSTOWN, N.D. (AP) — A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of whoever killed four horses and three cows near Cooperstown in eastern North Dakota.

The Forum newspaper reports that the North Dakota Stockmen's Association is putting up the money. The group also has hired its own investigator.

Authorities say the animals all were shot in the head at close range with a small-caliber weapon. The horses were found last Thursday and the cows about two weeks earlier, a quarter-mile away. Authorities think the shootings are related but they do not have any suspects.
