North Dakota law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty are being remembered.

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty are being remembered.

Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem said Wednesday is designated as North Dakota Peace Officer Memorial Day.

A memorial service is planned on the state Capitol grounds in Bismarck at 1:30 p.m.

The ceremony is held each year during National Police Week.

Fifty-nine North Dakota officers have been killed in the line of duty, though none in the past year.
