Minot man sentenced to 12 years for having child pornography

A former computer specialist for Minot Public Schools was sentenced Friday to 12 years in prison for possessing child pornography.

BISMARCK (AP) — A former computer specialist for Minot Public Schools was sentenced Friday to 12 years in prison for possessing child pornography.

Christian Webb pleaded guilty in federal court to receipt of material involving the sexual exploitation of minors. Authorities said the case led authorities to arrest six people in other states and rescue eight children from physically and sexually abusive situations.

Prosecutors said Webb used the Internet to receive streaming web camera videos that were being broadcast live. A link to Webb was discovered during an investigation of an Australian man arrested on suspicion of molesting his biological children.

Authorities said Webb cooperated in the investigation.

U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon said the case shows the importance of the Justice Department’s Safe Childhood project.
