West Fargo voters approve new schools

Voters in West Fargo have overwhelmingly approved an $82.5 million bond package to fund new schools.

WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Voters in West Fargo have overwhelmingly approved an $82.5 million bond package to fund new schools.

Tuesday's vote was 70 percent in favor and 30 percent against. Sixty percent approval was needed. The result marked a shift in attitude from two previous elections in which voters rejected building more schools in the rapidly growing city.

West Fargo has about 7,200 students, and enrollment is expected to rise to 9,200 within five years. Among the buildings the bond package will fund is a second high school.

More than 7,400 people voted.
