N.D. law officers targeting seat belt violators

North Dakota Highway Patrol troopers are cracking down on motorists who don't buckle up themselves or their children.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Highway Patrol troopers are cracking down on motorists who don't buckle up themselves or their children.

The patrol is joining dozens of law enforcement agencies across the state who are taking part in the “Click It or Ticket” enforcement through the Memorial Day weekend. Troopers are voluntarily working overtime, and the agency is putting special emphasis on peak travel times.

The patrol says that since 2008, 204 unbuckled motorists have died in North Dakota from injuries they suffered in a crash.
