FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A man who fled a Fargo halfway house when told he was going to be searched by authorities has been sentenced to serve 15 months in prison.
The Forum newspaper reports that 36-year-old Perry Paul changed his mind about trying to withdraw the guilty plea he entered last month and was sentenced this week.
Court documents show that Paul ran away from Centre Inc. last August. U.S. marshals arrested him in December for questioning related to the October stabbing of a West Fargo man in Moorhead, Minn.
In his motion to withdraw his plea Paul said he was not competent to enter it because of a history of mental illness. Judge Ralph Erickson ordered Paul to be sent to a facility that can address mental health issues.
