A mother and her son were not injured in a car fire Wednesday, according to the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department.
Mandi Freeman, Valley City, was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix north on U.S. Highway 52 around 6:30 p.m. Freeman heard and saw the low oil pressure warning light come on, officials said. She pulled over to the shoulder and stopped. Smoke emitted from under the hood and shortly the vehicle was in flames. The car was severely damaged but Freeman and her son, who was not identified, were not injured. The cause of fire was an oil leak, officials said.
