Teams consist of a child and an adult. The Derby, which is open to the public, is held in conjunction with North Dakota’s Free Fishing Weekend. No fishing license is required during the weekend.
Teams may fish any North Dakota water for the Derby, but must be back for the 2 p.m. weigh-in.
Plaques are awarded for four age categories — 0-6, 7-10, 11-3 and 14-16. A casting contest will also be held.
The Dakota Anglers will also be signing up kids ages 8-14 interested in the Devils Lake Fish Camp, held the first week in June.
Cost is $250, but the Anglers will be sending five kids free to the event. Transportation to and from the camp will be parents responsibility. A drawing will be held at the Derby to select the five kids.
Hot dogs, chips and pop will be served after the Derby.
