A residence in rural Montpelier, N.D., is a total loss, officials said after they responded to a fire there Tuesday.

The Marion Fire Department, Jamestown Rural Fire Department and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department responded to the fire at the home of Linda Barnick. A neighbor reported the fire just after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters were on scene for about three hours, said JRFD Assistant Fire Chief Rick Woehl. The Buffalo Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross was also on scene to assist the family and the firefighters.

No injuries were reported, Woehl said.

The cause remains under investigation.
