An initial hearing for a North Dakota State Hospital employee accused of drinking and driving was canceled Monday, according to court records.
Lynn Sullivan, 38, Jamestown, is a clinical psychologist at the NDSH. She was arrested for driving or in actual physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs in Minto, N.D., on April 20. She was driving a state vehicle.
According to the citation, Sullivan was pulled over at 9:27 p.m. She had a 0.20 percent blood alcohol concentration level on a breathalyzer test, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
NDSH Superintendent Alex Schweitzer said Sullivan has not been suspended and remains on the job at the hospital.
“I really can’t discuss anything that’s going on except what’s in the report,” he said, saying the hospital does have a policy restricting employees from illegal activities like drug or alcohol use while operating a state vehicle.
As a clinical psychologist, Sullivan works with the seriously mentally ill and mostly with patients in the hospital’s sex offender unit, Schweitzer said. If assigned, she may also work with individuals struggling with drug and alcohol abuse.
Schweitzer said he is unaware of a similar situation occurring within his 15 or so years with the State Hospital.
