Convicted sex offender lives next door to victims

A West Fargo woman is upset that a man convicted of sexually abusing her children can remain in his home next door while he awaits sentencing.

WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A West Fargo woman is upset that a man convicted of sexually abusing her children can remain in his home next door while he awaits sentencing.

Ned VanDyke is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 8 for his crimes against Jen Silverman's children. A court order bars him from being within 300 yards of his victims. But Police Sgt. Greg Warren tells The Forum that police can't force VanDyke from his home despite the no-contact order. Police say the situation is a rare one.

Silverman says it disturbs her that the man who sexually abused her children can remain in a house a few feet away.

VanDyke's wife, Linda, told The Forum that he maintains his innocence and doesn't want to talk about the situation.
