Longtime Minot State coach Wilson dies
Longtime Minot State track and field and cross country coach Wiley Wilson has died. He was 80 years old.
Longtime Minot State track and field and cross country coach Wiley Wilson has died. He was 80 years old.
Wilson was the head coach of both programs at Minot State from 1968 to 1997. Wilson guided the Beavers to 17 NDCAC conference and district championships. He was inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame in 1998.
Wilson, who graduated from Dickinson State, grew up in Stanton, N.D. After four years in the Air Force, he began coaching and teaching at Minot Model High School in 1965. Three years later he was hired at Minot State.
His funeral service is scheduled for Saturday at Atonement Lutheran Church in Fargo at 11 a.m.
